Background:

Established in 1877; original building housed four classrooms. In the past 14 years, developments have included: hall/dining room, headteacher's office, secretary's office, and five new classrooms; also on site is Sunny Corner Pre-school and Child Care Centre. School has large playing field; tradition of sporting success. Music and drama have prominent role in extra-curricular activities; school orchestra; drama club responsible for two productions a year. Outdoor education also strong. Annual residential trips to London, as well as camping for junior children. New 'Whole Child' badge system to recognise academic, creative, and sporting achievements, as well as care and consideration for others. Strong community links: horticultural show and craft exhibition; harvest festival and Christmas carol concerts in St Hilary Church; St Hilary Feast Concert and Feast Week Boundary Walk; quiz evenings and bingo; school also used in evenings for yoga, model-making, dance, computer studies and tennis.
