Background:
The school is located in a semi-rural area on the east side of Looe, overlooking the river estuary and harbour. Its modern, well-furbished buildings include a learning resource area which was extended and modernised in 1998 and a new science block completed in 2001. An extension to the technology building is due to open in 2002. Curriculum strengths include the arts, sciences and mathematics. Students take part in a wide range of extra-curricular activities such as sport, music, dance and drama. As a community school, Looe plays an important role within the local community and views links with the outside world as especially important. Students are encouraged to be actively good citizens and take part in many fundraising activities. 'All students are expected to achieve within the challenging but supportive environment of this very popular, successful school which enjoys an excellent reputation.' 'A high quality, caring, learning school community where everyone is valued for what they are and what they might become.' It is slightly over-subscribed.
