Background:

The school premises were purpose built in 1984 for 330 pupils and overlook the scenic St Ives Bay on the Cornish north coast. As well as assorted classroom computers the school has 18 networked PCs in a dedicated ICT suite, a library, audio-visual equipment, and a wide range of musical instruments housed in the music room. Six girls recently gained merits in the duet recorder class at the Cornwall County Music Festival. There is a football pitch, two netball courts, and a grassed play area. The athletics team have retained the relay trophy for three consecutive years at the Carn Brea competition. The school has been awarded the Education Extra Certificate of Merit in recognition of the number and variety of extra-curricular activities available. These include towerball, singing, artwork, disco dancing, field trips, school camps and sailing days. The broad curriculum offers pupils the opportunity to develop ICT skills, and parents are actively encouraged to become involved in developing their children's reading skills. The school is over-subscribed.
