Background:

Penryn School opened originally in Falmouth in 1957 and was moved to its present site in 1961. The most significant change to the college was to be designated a sports college in 1998. It has three upto date networked computer rooms. Students have the opportunity to access numerous reference works, from CD ROM, e-mail and the internet to sophisticated video conferencing facilities. The college buildings and ten acres of grounds are used extensively by the community for adult education courses, sporting activities, performances and fundraising activities. The college has a wide range of sports activities: canoeing, rugby, athletics, sailing, netball, climbing. Students learn French and German in language rooms dedicated to speaking, writing, listening and reading. The college has achieved the following awards: Leading Edge School in 2004, Sportsmark Gold. The college has established strong international links with China, Chile, South Africa and the United States of America. The college aim is that child takes some responsibility for their learning and has the opportunity to experience success and develop self-esteem.
