Background:
Located in a 'pleasant' residential area of Falmouth, close to the beaches and the Falmouth College of Arts, the school has grown from a day school started in the gallery of the parish church in 1809. Introductory French and German are taught and a 'European educational project' is being developed with three other countries. The school is over-subscribed. 'King Charles is proud of its musical achievements.' There is a school orchestra with over 40 pupils, a choir and various musical groups. 'Each year the older children have the opportunity to appear in a major production staged at Falmouth Arts Theatre or in a school concert.' After-school clubs also provide for team games such as netball, soccer, athletics, and cross-country and the school has links with the Falmouh Sports Club. In 1998 the netball team were undefeated area champions, and the athletics team won the area sports competition by a 'record margin'. A new class-sized computer suite was built with money raised by the schools 'strong' Parent-Teacher Association, and the school also raises money for local and national charities each year.
