Background:

The small rural school was founded in 1863 and is housed in a Victorian granite building in the heart of the village. The light and airy accommodation remains in a good state of repair and offers three classrooms. The school uses the village field for playtimes and PE, and the village hall for dance and gymnastics. Dance and drama are strengths of the school and children have performed in Bodmin and Truro. The curriculum is enhanced by after-school clubs for football, netball, dance, drama, art and recorder. Pupils in Key Stage 2 have the opportunity to take part in a residential camp and children from Years 2 to 6 have an annual sleepover at the school. St Tudy takes 'full advantage' of the local and wider environment with days trips and by organising workshops for dance, music, art and drama at the school. The school is closely linked to the local community, taking part in local events and being supported by village groups. Children are encouraged to take part in regular fundraising events such as NCH and Harvest Help.
