Background:

St Winnow CofE Primary School is housed in a Grade 2 listed building and has been on the site since 1818. It was originally founded for the poor of the parish to be given a Christian education. Alongside the buildings is a playing field for football, athletics, rounders and other sports and a garden plot area and pond. There is also a playground. The intake of the school comes from the town of Lostwithiel and the surrounding rural area. The school offers various extra-curricular activities and clubs throughout the year. These include athletics, cross-country, rounders, football, netball, craft and ICT. Local day visits to places of educational interest and residential visits for adventure activities are also arranged. There is a strong and active Parent Teacher Association, which supports the school both socially and financially. The school also has close links with the Church community. The school aims to promote Christian values and to encourage pupils to develop a sense of mutual respect and responsibility for others and for the environment.
