Background:
Although the present buildings date from the 1970s, this school was founded as a cathedral school in the late 1800s. It is set in 'extensive and pleasant' grounds including hedgerows, trees, a pond and wildlife. The school recently particpated in a 'celebration of childhood' in Truro Cathedral and the children's own composition was entered in 'A Voice of Promise' competition. The school's successful netball teams have won district competitions and has reached the county cross country finals. The school is proud of its fund-raising efforts, including for the African-based charity 'Operation Hello', and has won a computer system from the BBC's Children in Need. On a local level, it has distributed food parcels to the local elderly and visits local nursing homes at Christmas for carol singing. The school council enables pupils to meet with governors to express their wishes and opinions.
