Background:
Opened in 1870, the school is based on a design by Sylvanus Trevail and was built with local stone and Delabole slate, which is still quarried in the village. The school also boasts the first wind farm in the country. A range of extra-curricular activities is on offer including a 'well-established' young ornithologists club, swimming club, soccer and netball, cricket and rounders, athletics, an 'active' recorder club and country dancing. Delabole is 'very successful' in local sporting events and has 'strong' community links with 'excellent support' from the village.
