Background:
Nanpean is a small village set in the centre of the clay mining area of Cornwall. The main school building is granite and dates back to 1898. There was a school on the site for many years before this. The school has fluctuated between three and four classes. Two classrooms are in the main building together with the school office, headteacher's office, library and hall. There are also two Elliott classrooms one of which has a fenced, paved play area for the younger children. There is a 'big' site with large playground at the front and a larger field behind. In addition there is an adventure playground and a nature garden with pond which is fenced off from the field.
