Background:

The modern school was built in 1965 and is situated near Helston Community School and local amenities. It has been enhanced by a heated indoor swimming pool, adventure playground, environmental study area and a new computer suite with 12 new computers and a internet links. Parc Eglos has an 'excellent reputation'. It promotes a 'broad and thinking' curriculum to offer pupils a 'stimulating and challenging experience'. A range of extra-curricular activities from sports to the arts is offered. Children pursue football, netball, cross country, gymnastics, swimming, cricket and athletics and the school is proud of its 'excellent success' in sports, especially swimming. It is also proud of its musical tradition. Lessons are available in many instruments, including guitar, percussion and rock music, and there is an orchestra and a choir. French is taught as an after school enrichment activity and Year 6 pupils have the opportunity to go to France. Other educational visits are also organised throughout the school. Breakfast, after-school and holiday clubs are available. Pupils are heavily involved in the support of a village in Africa, in addition to raising funds for local and national charities. The school is over-subscribed, receiving four applications for each place. It has been awarded Investors in People status.
